 YEREVAN STATE CHAMBER THEATRE
History
The Yerevan State Chamber Theatre during its whole lifetime has always acted as a generator of new ideas like the first team of the “Club of Jolly and Ingenious people” (KVN) played in Moscow, and the first beauty competition for the title of “Miss Armenia”, the movies, the TV programs, the open air performances such as “Holly Christmas” and many others. At last, it is the theatre itself: the winner of many festivals in Russia, Sweden, Germany, France etc.
The Chamber Theatre’s popularity can be judged by the full houses in Yerevan and far from its borders.
The official date of the theater’s opening is the December 15 of 1982.
However its history starts from the first games of the KVN of Yerevan State Institute (70-s) the team became the preamble of the Chamber Theatre.
The founder and art director of the theatre is dramatist Ara Yernjakyan.
The plays are created on a basis of the Identification System - a system that has the Chamber theatre's background.
The main power of this method is a full and natural contact with the audience taking place on the stage, the absence of the so called "4-th wall".
During its history, the theatre has staged about 60 plays.
Starting from 1994 a cultural center successfully functions in the Chamber Theatre, the task of which is the promotion of the Armenian culture. One of the general points of it was the opening of the picture gallery on July 24, 1994.
The theatre’s another branch is television. Our theatre has worked with many TV channels and many various programs.
Starting from 1996 the Chamber Theatre has organized the Beauty and Elegance competition called "Miss Armenia", a first in the Caucasus, the president of which is Ara Yernjakyan.
Also starting from 1990, the Chamber Theatre has created five movies all of which won many awards.
